Accessibility Statement

1Our commitment

Misfit Ministries believes that everyone deserves to explore, question, and grow — and that includes being able to use our website regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology. We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

We regard digital accessibility as a continuing responsibility and a core part of meeting people where they are. We work to remove barriers and to make our content, teachings, and services available to all.

2Conformance standard

We measure our website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is the internationally recognized benchmark for web accessibility and underlies most accessibility laws and regulations worldwide.

WCAG is built on four principles — content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. Level AA is the conformance level most commonly required for public-facing websites, and it is the level we target across the site.

3Conformance status

WCAG defines three conformance levels: A, AA, and AAA. The status below reflects our current, honestly-assessed position with respect to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

“Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard. We are actively developing and testing the website and working to reach and maintain full Level AA conformance. When independent verification confirms full conformance, this section will be updated to reflect that.

This is a living document. We update it as our accessibility work progresses and as the website changes.

4Accessibility features

The website is designed and built to include the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard navigation — interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator;
  • Skip link — a “skip to main content” link lets keyboard and screen-reader users bypass repeated navigation;
  • Semantic structure — headings, landmarks, and lists convey document structure to assistive technology;
  • Text alternatives — meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked so they are ignored by screen readers;
  • Color contrast — text and interactive elements are designed to meet AA contrast ratios;
  • Descriptive links and labels — links and form fields are labeled so their purpose is clear out of context;
  • Responsive, zoomable layout — content reflows for different screen sizes and remains usable at increased zoom;
  • Reduced-motion support — animations are minimized for users who prefer reduced motion;
  • Consistent navigation — navigation and structure are predictable across pages; and
  • Media alternatives — captions or text alternatives are provided for audio and video where reasonably possible.

5How we assess accessibility

We assess the accessibility of the website through a combination of methods:

  • Automated testing using recognized tools (for example, axe, WAVE, and Lighthouse);
  • Manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader review;
  • Review during development, so accessibility is considered as new content and features are added; and
  • User feedback, which helps us find and prioritize real-world barriers.

Developer: once a formal evaluation is complete, record the method, tools, date, and (if applicable) the name of any third-party evaluator here, so this section documents a specific, dated assessment.

6Technical specifications

Accessibility of the website relies on the following technologies to work with your browser and any assistive technologies you use:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standard. Where JavaScript is used, we aim to ensure that core content and functionality remain available or that an accessible alternative is provided.

7Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

The website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major web browsers and, where possible, with common assistive technologies such as screen readers and speech-recognition software. Accessibility depends in part on the technologies you use; the website may not work optimally with browsers or assistive tools that are no longer supported or significantly out of date.

For the best experience, we recommend keeping your browser, operating system, and assistive technology up to date.

8Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some limitations may remain. We are aware of, and actively working to resolve, the following types of issues:

  • Text alternatives on some images that are missing, incomplete, or being refined;
  • Heading structure on some pages that does not yet follow a fully logical order;
  • Older content, media, or documents published before current standards were applied;
  • Certain interactive or embedded elements that are not yet fully optimized for assistive technology; and
  • Third-party components whose accessibility is outside our direct control (see Section 9).

If you encounter a barrier that is not described here, please tell us using the details in Section 11. Reports from users are one of the most valuable ways we identify and prioritize fixes.

9Third-party content

Some features of the website depend on third-party platforms — for example, payment and donation tools, course and membership platforms, embedded video, social-media content, maps, and email tools. We do not control the accessibility of third-party services, and their conformance may vary and may change without notice.

Where a third-party component creates a barrier, we will make reasonable efforts to provide the information or complete the task through an alternative accessible method. Please contact us if a third-party element prevents you from doing something on the site.

10Alternative means of access

If any content or function on the website is not accessible to you, we will provide the information or service through an alternative method at no additional cost. For example, we can supply information in a different format, answer questions by email, or help you complete a donation, purchase, registration, or other task directly.

Contact us using the details in Section 11 and we will work with you to find a solution.

11Feedback & contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Misfit Ministries website. If you encounter a barrier, need content in a different format, or cannot complete a task because of an accessibility issue, please contact us:

Accessibility feedback

talktous@misfitministries.com

To help us respond quickly, please include, where you can:

  • The web address (URL) of the page where you experienced the problem;
  • A description of the barrier or difficulty;
  • The browser, operating system, and any assistive technology you were using; and
  • Your preferred way for us to reach you.

12Response & escalation

We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within five business days and to provide a substantive response, or a plan and timeframe for resolution, as promptly as reasonably possible. Complex issues may take longer to fully resolve, but we will keep you informed of our progress.

If you are not satisfied with our initial response, you may ask us to review the matter further, and a member of our team will re-examine the issue.

13Formal complaints

We are committed to resolving accessibility concerns directly and in good faith. If we are unable to resolve your concern to your satisfaction, you may have the right to raise the matter with a relevant regulatory or enforcement authority in your jurisdiction. Contacting us first allows us the opportunity to help and to correct the issue.

This statement reflects our good-faith commitment to accessibility and is provided for informational purposes. It is not intended to create rights or obligations beyond those required by applicable law.

14Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We will continue to test, learn, and improve; to train those who create content and maintain the site; and to review this statement as the website evolves and our conformance improves. The “Last reviewed” date near the top of this page indicates when this statement was most recently assessed.
